Chalkwell Boss Takes on London Marathon
Roland Eglinton of Swale coach and bus firm Chalkwell Coach Hire is to run the London Marathon in aid of the Scout Association. The event takes place on 27th April and covers a course of 26.2 miles around the Capital. Around 40,000 other runners will also take part.
A keen runner in his spare time, Roland has completed several events, including the London Marathon in 2023. Roland can often be seen pounding the streets of Sittingbourne as part of his training.
Roland commented “The London Marathon is such an iconic event, and is a challenge for runners of all abilities. I had to take break from running due to knee surgery, so getting fit again has been particularly challenging. That said, I’m looking forward to what should be a challenging but rewarding experience. I’m hoping to finish in under five hours, but anything can happen on the day.
In my youth I was a Scout with 1st Milton Regis, and these days I’m a leader with a group where I live, so I get to see first-hand how young people are able to gain confidence and develop skills for life. The money raised will help support initiatives around the UK. Most people will know someone that is or has previously been involved in scouting, so this is a good opportunity to help out”.
