Kingsferry Bridge Closure – June and July 2024

With the Kingsferry Bridge due to close at several times over the next two months, the below will be going out to the public shortly. I have been in a three-way discussion with KCC and Jackson Civil, the contractors for the Grovehurst scheme.
Due to the closure of the Kingsferry bridge in June and July 2024 we will have to divert a number of services. The following changes will be in place:
UPDATE 16th MAY – We understand that the northbound sliproad at Grovehurst junction will now not be open. We are currently working with stakeholders to makealternative arrangments.
334 – Sheerness to Sittingbourne
All journeys will serve the stops at Iwade Health Centre and Kingfisher Close, and will not serve Helen Thompson Close, School Lane and Sanderling Way. From Kingfisher Close all journeys will use the main A249 to get to Queenborough Morrisons, and the same in reverse.
We understand that this will inconvenience those customers who board at the stops we will not be using; however this is only for a limited period. With increased traffic flow in the area our focus is on serving a limited number of stops as reliably as possible, rather than diverting buses around the rest of the village.
The northbound slip road at the Grovehurst junction is due be open while the bridge is closed.
School Buses
IB1 and IB3, — Journeys from Sheppey will use the main A249 and the Grovehurst junction, before serving Iwade Health Centre, Holly Blue Drive, School Lane and normal stops thereafter. The reverse will happen in the afternoon.
IB2 – Does not serve Iwade in the morning. In the afternoon it will serve Jacinth Drive, Iwade Health Centre, Kingfisher Close and then Sheppey.
321 and 647 – Will continue to serve Iwade Health Centre, Holly Blue Drive, School Lane and all normal stops.
The dates of the closure are (subject to change):
Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th June
Saturday 29th June to Sunday 7th July
Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th July
Saturday 20th July to Sunday 28th July.
We apologise for any inconvenience; however this closure is not of our making. There will possibly be some increased traffic at certain junctions, and we thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.
