Chalkwell to Offer Training and Jobs for Sacked P&O Workers
Sittingbourne-based bus and coach operator Chalkwell Coach Hire is offering job opportunities for those affected by the decision by the ferry provider to sack 800 members of staff. The training is fully funded by Chalkwell, and selected candidates are paid while they train.
Managing Director at Chalkwell, Roland Eglinton, said “We provide training for people to gain their PCV driving licence and become a bus and coach driver with Chalkwell. With several ex-P&O employees doubtlessly living in Swale and Ashford where we operate, we wanted to extend this same opportunity to those who have found themselves out of work under these harsh circumstances.

Whilst being able to drive properly is an essential part of the role, customer-facing skills and the ability to deal with members of the public are just as important.
